Delighted to share that the North York Moors National Park won the BBC @CountryfileMag viewers competition for the National Park of the Year.  Well deserved award.  We are right on the edge of the Moors and guests can enjoy this very special area.  The scenery is stunning whether you like to walk, cycle or just drive around and enjoy the scenery and the delicious local food.

We are pleased to announce that we have met the criteria set by the North York Moors National Park to be a Nature Friendly destination.  This is a great place to catch glimpses of wildlife, frogs, toads and newts in the Spring and hare & deer all year.  Guests can enjoy birds, butterflies and bees!

This 10 out of 10 review was posted on Reevo by one of our Autumn guests

"We both enjoyed our stay in Amber, my wife is disabled and managed very well in the cottage finding the lift and rise chair helpful, as this is what lets most holiday cottages down, the shower in the wet room was superb with plenty of space.  We both enjoyed peace and quiet at basin howe, with lovely gardens and the sculptures amazing.  We will return as there is so much to do in the area a week is never enough."

This is a great spot for bird watching.  Keen watchers have listed 30+ species in our garden and within walking distance.  We are surrounded by a diverse range of habitat - areas of thicket & miles of hedgerow, hay meadow, farmed fields and Dalby Forest.  Woodpeckers are so colourful they always catch the eye but we have tits & warblers, goldfinches & black caps and from April onwards the swallows nest in our Forge.

Our website has had a Makeover, you can now book immediately - no waiting for us to confirm!  We also have some cute icons!

During October we enjoyed some fabulous sunsets. Guests have needed their cameras at the ready each evening!
