We are very relieved to say that Swallows have returned to Basin Howe Farm. They usually come around the middle of April. This year we have been watching out for them but they have now started to arrive some 2 weeks later than usual. They nest in our old forge and often rear three broods.

We are proud to say that all of our cottages have been again awarded the Wyndham Green Award for Sustainability. We encourage birds & bees and wildlife, recycle whatever we can and have our own water supply. To keep our guests comfy and warm we have efficient heating and well insulated cottages.

Take a look at our new Wildlife page. This week our trail camera caught our first exciting pictures of a badger. The area around us is brilliant for seeing wildlife.

Channel 5 is running a 3 part documentary "The Yorkshire Steam Railway : All Aboard" all about the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Airing at 8pm on March 2nd, 9th and 16th these programmes go behind the scenes at our local heritage steam railway based just down the road in Pickering. This year the NYMR celebrates its 50th year and we invite you to book a week at Basin Howe Farm Cottages this season and enjoy a trip on the railway during your stay.

Basin Howe Farm is a great place for spotting wildlife - this cheeky chap came to our birdbath! Spaces still in July and August. Time to grab a bargain.

We are happy to say that we have had another glowing inspection report. Our Visit England 4 Star Gold rating has again been confirmed.
